Faith and Fulfillment
Every work of faith faces a wall.
Weariness calls out: “It’s too much.”
Worthlessness whispers: “It doesn’t matter.”
The greatest sign of discouragement is that we have abandoned “resolves for good” altogether (2 Thess. 1:11). We are too tired from the daily toil even to dream.
What’s needed is a window into the unseen—into the glory that is on the way and the power that is already here.
Your work of faith is heavier and harder than you can see (2 Thess. 1:5-12).
It’s heavier than the mundane toil will tell you. When Christ returns, his blazing arrival will resurface, recognize, and reward every hidden deed done in his name (2 Thess 1:10). All your hidden works will be like laurels on his head, each sending a message to the King: I believed in you; I trusted you; I lived as if this moment would come.
And because your work holds so much weight, it’s harder than you expect. Human flesh cannot carry a call with eternal implications. Spiritual strength is needed for work that touches the spiritual realm (Eph. 6:12).
God knows the burden.
So he sends down help. The Spirit rehydrates our dry souls with refreshing hope. He picks us up, plants us on our feet, and provides the wind we need for the next step.
The Father never expected us to make it to the finish line alone. All along, he knew that only he could “fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power” (2 Thess. 1:11).
If God fulfills it, what is your job?
“Do not give up” (Gal. 6:9).
Stay put on the wall of your divine calling, and by his grace, your daily bricks of service will form into something beautiful in the sight of God.
